Meet Keerat

Ever since I could make sense of the world around me, from visiting mum at her office as a child where I got a sneak peek into meetings, counsel conferences and even to the courts in Nairobi, to attending vacation placements at Bristol University at some incredible law firms both in Kenya and the UK, including working alongside lead advocates in the Netherlands later in my career, and to setting up my first independent venture in my law firm SaiKee Law, my passion for the law has weathered every storm and remained resolute. Whilst I had taken some time off to attend to the birth of my child and relished in my new found love of motherhood, I couldn’t shake off the urge to get back into all things LAW!

In 2019, the Solicitors Regulation Authority introduced a novel model through which people like me could work for ourselves without being part of a law firm. This has worked wonders for I can attend both to my family and to my clients. I am an SRA regulated freelance solicitor undertaking reserved and non-reserved work. A freelance solicitor’s practice itself as long as it meets the criteria is not usually required to be authorised although the Solicitor will be regulated.

Here’s what I can do:
Advice and assist you in all matters education such as:
a. Request for EHCP and amending draft EHCP
b. First-tier and Upper Tier SEND Tribunal Appeals
c. School Exclusion/Admission Appeals
e. Disability Discrimination
f, Complaints to the LGSCO
g. Complaints to the Secretary of State
h. Appeal Local Authority decisions such as a refusal to issue an EHCP, failure to meet section 42 Children and Families Act 2014 provisions

I also offer written advice if you are simply seeking a legal overview of your matter. How I charge for this will depend on the volume of documents you provide, and the legal complexity. With my deep understanding of the law and personal insight into the challenges of navigating educational systems, Keerat combines professionalism, compassion, and a results-oriented approach to deliver exceptional service.

I am based in Rushden, UK and welcome clients seeking clarity, guidance, or an informal discussion about their legal options nationwide.

Industries

Sectors

Specializing in education law, disability advocacy, and family support, we help families navigate legal challenges in securing educational rights and fair treatment for children with special needs.

Education law
Education Law

Your child's rights aren't optional and neither is our fight for them.

Your child has a legal right to the support they need — but local authorities don't always make it easy. From EHCP battles to tribunal appeals, I cut through the bureaucracy and fight to get your child what they're entitled to. No jargon. No delays. Just results.

Disability Advocacy
Disability Advocacy

They called it policy. We call it what it is.

Your child is being failed — and you know it. Whether a school is refusing reasonable adjustments or a local authority is ignoring its duties under the Equality Act, I hold them accountable. Because discrimination dressed up as policy is still discrimination.

Local Authority Appeals
Attendance Orders
Before they prosecute get the law on your side.

When a child's school attendance becomes a legal matter, the stakes are high and the process can feel overwhelming. I advise and support families facing Education Supervision Orders, School Attendance Orders, or prosecution by the local authority — ensuring your rights are protected and that any underlying SEND needs are properly considered before enforcement action is taken.

Local Authority Appeals

A refusal letter is not the final word. Not on our watch.

Local authorities make consequential decisions about children's education and care every day — and they don't always get it right. I help families challenge those decisions with confidence, backed by thorough legal knowledge and a track record of getting results.

EHCP Reviews & Amendments

The review happened. Nothing changed. That ends here.

The annual review came and went — and nothing changed. If your child's EHCP no longer reflects their needs, or the local authority is dragging its feet on updating provision, that's not just frustrating, it's unlawful. I push for the amendments your child needs, now.

Neurodivergent Children & SEND

The system wasn't built for your child. But the law protects them anyway.

ADHD. Autism. Dyslexia. PDA. Your child's brain works differently — and the system wasn't built with them in mind. I specialise in securing the right legal framework around neurodivergent children so they can finally access education in a way that actually works for them.

School Exclusions

Excluded doesn't mean finished. Challenge it.

Your child has been excluded and you've been told there's nothing you can do. There is. Exclusions are frequently unlawful, disproportionate, or used as a shortcut where SEND support should have been in place. I challenge them — and I win.

Further & Higher Education

Your rights don't stop at 16. Neither do we.

Most families don't realise that the legal protections for young people with SEND extend well beyond school — up to the age of 25. Whether it's a college refusing to implement an EHCP, a university failing to make reasonable adjustments, or a local authority unlawfully ceasing provision, I fight to ensure young people are not abandoned by a system that still has a legal duty to support them. I act exclusively for students, young people, and their families — never institutions.

Independent Schools

Fees don't buy silence. Know your rights.

Independent schools operate under different rules — but they are not above the law. If your child has been unlawfully excluded, discriminated against on the basis of disability, or the school has failed to deliver on agreed SEND provision, you have legal recourse. I act solely for parents, children, and young people — never schools — ensuring families have the expertise and firepower to hold even the most prestigious institutions to account.
